How many times have we stepped out to run a few errands only to remember that a candle was left burning?  Not to worry.  Set the timer from between 1-3 hours.  When the time is up, the lid will automatically shut to extinguish the flame safely.  Peace of mind is priceless.  Wind-up mechanism...no batteries required.
