Poems in Glass. Émile Gallé (1846-1904) the beloved artist was the son of a glassmaker in Nancy, france. After serving in the French-Prussian War, he applied his love of botany to his father's business, creating a signature glass that consisted of three layers of cameo glass in floral motifs. Eventually he created his own business and was recognized at numerous international exhibitions for his work and was directing new designs from his deathbed. Though his widow and son-in-law continued the glass making for several decades using his methods, they honored him by using a star after his signature to indicate pieces created after his death. Gallé had an instrumental influence upon the Art Nouveau movement. This beautiful replica is modeled off of his exquisite work.
